Broadcast-accurate loudness: true-peak + loudness-range meters, and a corrected LUFS engine
AetherCut v1.9.125 shipped on with 9 updates to the private, browser-based video editor. Everything here is already included in the latest version. AetherCut edits on your own device, so your footage never has to be uploaded to a server.
What's new in v1.9.125
- Loudness metering is now broadcast-accurate (ITU-R BS.1770-4): the engine sums channels instead of averaging them, adds the K-weighting filter, and gates out silence — so when you normalize to −14 LUFS for YouTube/Spotify/TikTok, you actually land at −14 (stereo mixes used to read about 3 dB quiet and overshoot to ~−11)
- New True Peak (dBTP) readout in the Export loudness check — it oversamples the mix to catch the inter-sample peaks that clip on playback even when every sample looks safe, and warns you if the mix crosses the −1 dBTP streaming ceiling before you export
- New Loudness Range (LRA) readout so you can tell an interview (tight, consistent) from a music or cinematic edit (wide, dynamic) at a glance — labeled consistent / moderate / wide
- The Export 'Loudness check' now measures the ACTUAL rendered mix — clips, background music and voiceover together, in their timeline positions — instead of a rough estimate, so the number you see is the number you ship
- The per-clip Loudness Normalize panel now shows that clip's loudness range alongside the measured level
- Reliability: added a lightweight /api/health endpoint for uptime monitors, so a dead-URL probe no longer looks like an outage
- Bug fix: arming the Split tool and clicking a clip now actually cuts it — previously the click did nothing
- Bug fix: the preview could refuse to play after splitting a clip (the timeline length was mis-calculated, so the playhead thought it was already at the end) — splitting and playback now behave correctly
- With gratitude to Thiago Goncalves, who read the loudness math in public and flagged the channel-summation, K-weighting and gating gaps — all three are now fixed
