Landing + pricing clarity, a cleaner editor header, and guided first-run onboarding
AetherCut v1.9.124 shipped on with 9 updates to the private, browser-based video editor. Everything here is already included in the latest version. AetherCut edits on your own device, so your footage never has to be uploaded to a server.
What's new in v1.9.124
- Landing hero decluttered: the Product Hunt, LaunchBuff and Trustpilot badges and the four product-fact tiles (no uploads · browser-based · local export · 4K no-watermark) now sit in one centered row beneath the demo video, with the dead space to the next section tightened
- Editor header fixed and tidied: the Privacy Mode pill is now correctly centered over the preview (it no longer overlaps Preferences), and the sign-out icon is now a clear labeled 'EXIT' pill for both guests and signed-in users
- The landing 'Trust receipts' chip is renamed 'Trust Policy' and is now a real link to the privacy policy — testers kept trying to click it
- Bug fix: the 'See everything included' plan/feature panels no longer close when you click outside while reading them — they stay open until you press the X or Esc
- Pricing made plainer: the no-cost plan is now the 'Hobbyist' tier, labeled 'always $0 — not a trial' (no 'free' ambiguity), and Full Access is marked as built for professional editors
- New /why-browser page answering the most common first-time question — 'if I download an editor, isn't that already private?' — with an honest browser-vs-desktop side-by-side, linked from a hero pill
- First-run onboarding: the guided, draggable Walkthrough popout now opens automatically the first time you enter the editor (once per browser), so new editors get oriented without hunting for it
- The hero audience line now speaks to creators and anyone with footage they'd rather not upload, alongside the existing lawyers / journalists / medical-educator framing
- Also shipped recently: a new /why-pro plain-English explainer (linked from pricing and the in-editor upgrade prompt), a pricing UI rework that puts the feature list above the buy button, the login hero now cycles through several demo clips in random order, and a manual 'Walkthrough' button plus a 25-second demo reel that plays with sound
