Fix: PiP overlays played as a still picture instead of video
AetherCut v1.7.85 shipped on with 5 updates to the private, browser-based video editor. Everything here is already included in the latest version. AetherCut edits on your own device, so your footage never has to be uploaded to a server.
What's new in v1.7.85
- Tester report: 'The PiP is just a picture and not the video I added to it.'
- Root cause: startSegmentVideos and seekToTime both paused all video elements then played/seeked only the MAIN-TRACK clip. Overlay (PiP) <video> elements stayed paused on frame 0 forever, while the canvas renderer kept drawing that stale frame
- Fix: both code paths now iterate overlayClipsRef and play/seek each overlay clip in range. 50ms drift gate prevents redundant per-frame seeks during steady-state playback
- Out-of-range overlays are paused (no decoder churn on long timelines with many PiP segments)
- Verified live in browser; all 70 regression suites pass
