Privacy Mode — one-click kill switch for every cloud AI tool
AetherCut v1.7.47 shipped on with 6 updates to the private, browser-based video editor. Everything here is already included in the latest version. AetherCut edits on your own device, so your footage never has to be uploaded to a server.
What's new in v1.7.47
- New global toggle disables all 20 AI tools that touch the network (Whisper, Sonnet, ElevenLabs, fal.ai, Sora). When ON, the editor degrades to ~55 fully-local tools and zero outbound media — verifiable in DevTools → Network
- Locked tools display a green shield badge in the AI bar instead of opening; clicking them surfaces a clear toast pointing at the toggle
- Privacy Mode gate takes precedence over the Pro upgrade gate — if you turned off cloud AI, you don't get pitched on Pro, you see why the tool is locked
- Setting persists in localStorage and syncs across tabs (flip it in one tab → other open editor tabs honour it on the next click)
- Toggle surfaces in three places: Header → About, the Trust Receipts matrix on the landing page (a live demo visitors can flip before signup), and a Privacy Mode section in the in-editor user guide
- No other editor on the comparison scorecard offers this — Descript and Premiere Rush only ship the milder 'don't train on my content' opt-out, which doesn't STOP the upload
